The Save the Date is the first official announcement of your wedding. It's not a formal invitation, but an elegant advance notice: a small gesture to tell your loved ones, "Save the date, we're getting married!"

📌 What does it contain?

Your names
The date of the wedding
The city (or at least the region, if already decided)

📅 When to send it?

About 8-12 months before the wedding, especially if:
You have guests who come from far away
It's a destination wedding
Are you getting married in high season (summer or holidays)

It allows guests to organize themselves ahead of time, book any travel and vacations, and above all, feel part of your journey from the very beginning.

Participation or Invitation? The Difference (That Few Know)

They are often used synonymously, but there is a precise distinction between participation and invitation.

✅ Participation

This is the official document announcing the wedding. It's used to announce the ceremony and is given to all guests, even those who will only attend the religious or civil ceremony.

✅Invitation

This is an extension of the invitation. It's only attached to those who will also be attending the reception. It's a separate card or additional information in the same graphic layout.

The address
The reception time
